Our History

A history of innovation

Across three decades, RCS has built a reputation for innovation and quality.

Today, RCS is an innovative and independent British technology company specialising in the research, development, production and support of leading-edge control, monitoring and systems management technologies.
The quality of our technology is matched by an unrivalled excellence in customer service and after-sales care.

Among the key milestones in our history are:

RCS was founded as Radford Control Systems in 1982.

In 2009 the business was acquired from Carrier Corporation by electronics specialist Maxey Moverley Ltd.

As part of this process, the company began trading as RCS Energy Management, a name which more accurately reflected our specialism in the field of environmental control and energy management. The name evolved into RCS as our product range grew.

In 2015, the RCS service function moved to Maxey Moverley’s 20,000 sq. ft. technical resource centre, one of the largest dedicated service and repair facilities of its kind in Europe.

In 2016, the RCS product, technical and research teams relocated to a specialist resource centre in Newbury.

Today we continue to build on this heritage of outstanding technical innovation.

Our R&D programme remains focused on the development of ever more flexible, powerful and affordable products capable of managing temperature (refrigeration, heating, ventilation, environment and beyond), lighting, alarm systems, and so much more besides.
